Snow Day Part Deux

We woke up this morning to more snow! Jon got to stay home with us b/c the doctor's office he has been shadowing was closed. We took the girls outside around 9:00. It was cold! We went to our neighbor James & Lillian's house to see if they would want to play. Ansley fell every few steps b/c the snow had a layer of ice on top of it that made it difficult to walk on. The kids had a good time. We lasted about an hour & a half before we went inside. Jon fixed us grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch then the whole family took an afternoon nap!

Chuck E Cheese

Jon surprised the girls with a Chuck E. Cheese trip on Saturday evening. Madelyn has been wanting to go there for quite some time now. She sees the ad on PBS Kids. Jon said it was a mad house. He saw 2 mom's get into a shouting match over one of the kids getting pizza on the other kids clothes! The lines were outrageous to get drinks so they did without. Luckily the ice cream was in a vending machine! From the photos, it looks like the girls didn't notice the craziness around them!

Winter Zoo Trip

We loved those couple of warm days at the end of last week. On Thursday, the girls & I played in the backyard & went for a bike ride. On Friday afternoon, the whole family went to the zoo. We were happy Jon could come b/c he has been so busy lately tutoring & traveling for interviews. This was Ansley's first zoo trip where she wasn't strapped to the stroller the entire time. She loved walking around & loved the animals. She roared at them as loud as a 1 year old could! She especially loved the peacocks that were roaming around. She got too close to it a few times & even tried to climb a wall to get to it, as you can see in the photo. Madelyn didn't want to see the lions this time b/c she was too scared, but really liked hearing them roar after we had passed them. It was a great day! Jon & I are excited for warm weather so we can be outside again!

Pretty Girls

The other day I caught Madelyn playing with my makeup! She got some princess makeup for Christmas & enjoys playing with that. I told her that she looked gorgeous...she was very proud of herself! On another note, I was playing around with Ansley's hair yesterday & realized the back is long enough for pig tails! She usually pulls bows immediately out but actually left in the ponytails (for about 30 minutes anyways). She looked really cute & hopefully will get used to me fixing her hair!

Snow Day

We woke up this morning to see a blanket of snow covering the ground. The girls & I went to Target to get snow boots (on sale for $5...yay!), came home, ate lunch, then went outside to play. Ansley fell quite a few times b/c she was so puffed up in snow gear. Madelyn found sticks to drag in the snow like the little boy does in our book "The Snowy Day". Poor Ansley couldn't hold a stick b/c she could barely get her hands together, let alone hold it with her mittens on. We walked up & down our street, making tracks with our shoes. The girls made snow angels. Madelyn's favorite thing to do with the snow was eat it! The snow wasn't sticky enough for a snow man. As I look out the window, I see more snow falling...maybe we'll do it again tomorrow!

Silliness

Ansley woke up before Madelyn the other day. Our house is always freezing in the morning so I put Madelyn's robe on Ansley. She looked so cute & fluffy, I had to take a picture. When Madelyn woke up she said, "I have a robe like that!". Jon & I just snickered. So now when Madelyn wears Her robe, mind you, Ansley throws a fit! Time to buy Ansley her own robe!

I made broccoli soup for dinner yesterday & Madelyn made her own soup as well. The other day when I woke up from a nap, Madelyn had been "cooking" in the kitchen. She pulled up a chair to the counter (which she always does when helping me), Opened the flour & sugar jars, got a bowl out of the cabinet, got out the gallon of milk from the fridge, & her Cocoa Krispies from the pantry. Needless to say, there was a big mess waiting for me. Its been a long time since we've made cookies together & I think she really misses helping me in the kitchen. I am just now getting back to cooking again since I am not as tired & nauseous anymore. So after I made the broccoli soup, I let Madelyn make her soup, under supervision! She had so much fun mixing the flour, water, & cheese, using the sifter, & whisk. Watch out Rachel Ray...I think we've got a future chef in the making!!

I've Been a Bad Blogger

My excuse is that I have been exhausted the past 10 weeks. This pregnancy has gotten the best of me. As I approach the glorious 2nd trimester, I find myself feeling less tired, which means I'm less irritable, & less nauseous. I hope to provide you with more steady updates on the kids now that I am feeling better! So, we haven't really been doing anything too exciting...just life as usual. The girls have been terrific sports through Mommy's tired spells. Thank God Jon had a long break in his schedule to provide me with extra support & really taking over with the kids...Divine timing at its best! Jon is away tonight, driving to Memphis for an interview tomorrow. I took the girls to WalMart to get a birthday gift & a few groceries. We came home, ate dinner, gave the girls a bath, & they were watching "Alvin & the Chipmunks" until they realized I was no longer in the room with them. Now Madelyn is rummaging through the refrigerator & Ansley is getting into all the stuff in Jon's office! The girls are becoming great friends. They give each other lots of hugs & kisses & play together more as Ansley gets older. I am so lucky to be Madelyn & Ansley's mom...I can't wait to meet our new little miracle in August!
