This is How We Roll

Today was transportation day at Madelyn's preschool. The kids were asked to bring their bikes. Madelyn chose her bike rather than her scooter. She is upset with her scooter right now. Last week we took the girl's scooters to their cousins house to ride. Madelyn couldn't go as fast as their neighbor (who was a few years older than her). She took it to heart & has been upset with her scooter b/c it wasn't fast enough. Hopefully she will get over this pretty soon!

We've been taking lots of walks around our circle. Madelyn either rides her bike or scooter. Ansley has a trike that has a handle behind it so I can push her since she hasn't mastered pedaling. She drags her feet & gets on & off the trike. She even tries to push it herself. This was taking FOREVER. So we switched to her scooter. She also gets frustrated when riding that. She doesn't understand how to control the steering. As a result, she ends up in the grass. Then I tried to get her to just walk with me while Madelyn rides. This worked for a while but she wanted something to do. Finally I had the idea for Ansley to push her baby stroller on walks. So far, this has worked well. Oh, & by the way, I'm not so overbearing that I make Ansley wear a helmet when she pushes her stroller...she wants to be like Sissy (Ansley's name for Madelyn). Our walks are still pretty slow but at least everyone is happy!

Friends from Home

Charles & Angela Horn drove up for a visit yesterday with their 2 boys, Charles & Brooks. We met them at the Children's Museum (seems to be a popular stop for our visitors). I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't super crowded as I had expected. The Horn's came back to our house for dinner after making a quick stop at the mall. Angela wanted to shop at Anthropologie. I so wish I could have taken advantage of their huge sale selection but its hard to tell what size I'll be post baby. I have bought a few things already...a few casual shirts & some comfy pants from the Gap & J Crew outlet. The kids had fun playing together. It was a beautiful day...70 degrees & sunny by dinner time. It was nice spending time with friends from home!

Post 4th Party

We watched our 1st run of fireworks tonight at our neighbors post 4th of July party. The kids played potato sack races, water balloon toss, & egg toss. There was ice cream sundaes & cupcakes. Madelyn & Ansley had a great time. Ansley was scared of the fireworks. I held her the whole time, even when the sparklers were flaring. Jon is still working nights so he had to miss the fun. We've got some great neighbors around here with lots of kids for Madelyn & Ansley to play with!

Happy 4th of July!

The girls participated in our neighborhood's 4th of July parade this morning. Madelyn won 3rd place for best decorations! She won a gift certificate for some ice cream...yummy!! The girls had lots of fun!

We met Suzanne, Ethan, & Noah at The Children's Museum on Thursday. Then the Barnett's came over to our house. We took the kids to the playground. Then came home to eat tacos. It was good seeing friends from home. We love having visitors!

Speaking of visitors, Maw Maw & Paw Paw Day drove up from Louisville yesterday just to take the girls out to dinner! Too bad Jon had to work. We ate at Red Robin. The girls loved the atmosphere & getting a balloon. Then we ate ice cream at Cold Stone. What a nice surprise!!

1st Day of Summer Preschool

Madelyn is going to Centennial Preschool at the church in our neighborhood! Its so close we can walk to school. We did the summer preschool b/c Madelyn was so excited to get started. She will go every Tuesday from 9-1 for 6 weeks. Then she'll start back in September, Mon, Wed, & Fri from 9-12. Madelyn was very excited to get her new pink back pack. She has to bring her lunch as well. I packed a zebra cake that she picked out at Kroger for her special treat. Madelyn just dove right in with the festivities & hardly noticed when I left. Her teacher was surprised that she had never been to preschool before b/c she listened so well & is so smart! Summer preschool is very relaxed. They made name tags, listened to a Bible story, played outside, play dough, colored pictures, & they lightly go over preschool curriculum.

So what did Ansley & I do all morning? We went to Babies R Us to shop for the girls' baby brother. Then we ate lunch at Chic-Fil-A. Ansley got a pink balloon & held it proudly as she ate her lunch. She accidentally let it go in the playground but handled the loss pretty well! It was fun spending time alone with her.
